Makhachev has been seemingly unbeatable during his reign as Lightweight champion, as he has easily defeated Alexander Volkanovski twice.
In Dustin Poirier, Makhachev will square off against a very experienced fighter who is capable of striking, wrestling and grappling.
The problem is that Makhachev is SO good at wrestling and grappling, which will likely result in Poirier fighting for long stretches off of his back.
This is the same gameplan that Khabib always used - whenever you are in trouble, just take the fight to the ground.
Makhachev will likely do the exact same thing.
