Heading into UFC 294, UFC President Dana White stated that the winner of Khamzat Chimaev vs Kamaru Usman would fight Sean Strickland for the Middleweight title.

Chimaev defeated Usman at UFC 294, which makes him the next challenger for Strickland's title.

A major US sportsbook has opened up betting odds for the fight, and they currently look like this:

Khamzat Chimaev, 1.29
Sean Strickland, 3.70

According to these odds, a successful $100 wager on Chimaev would yield a total profit of $29, while a successful $100 bet on Strickland would yield a total profit of $270.

As you can see, Chimaev is a big favourite to win.

Chimaev is obviously the big favourite to win, though some believe that the path for Strickland to win has been laid clear by Chimaev's past 2-3 fights.

Chimaev comes out extremely quickly and usually absolutely dominates in the first round, though he usually trails off quickly after that.

Chimaev has shown some big issues with his gas tank, and this is where Strickland could have a chance of winning.

Strickland, as everyone now knows, has a fantastic gas tank and can fight for a very high level for an entire five-round championship fight.

Strickland's strategy will be very clear - survive the first round and then increase the pressure on Chimaev as the fight continues.

For Chimaev, the strategy will be to put Strickland out early, though that's easier said than done.

In my opinion, this fight is much closer than the odds would indicate.
