Sports Nicknames - Mr. October



Reginald Martinez "Reggie" Jackson, a former American professional baseball player, was known for his powerful hitting as a right fielder and designated hitter.

He earned the nickname "Mr. October" for his outstanding postseason performances, especially in the World Series. Jackson won five World Series titles (three with Oakland and two with New York) and was named the World Series MVP twice.

One of his most memorable moments came in the 1977 World Series when he hit three home runs in a single World Series game, joining Babe Ruth as the only other player to do so at the time.

Known for his flamboyant style, he was one of the game's most marketable players during his playing career in which he hit a total of 563 home runs.

In 1993, Reggie Jackson was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
