When Australia played Honduras for the final World Cup spot in November of 2017, they used some smarts and money to give themselves an advantage.After the opening leg ended in a 0-0 draw, the two teams were forced to travel from Honduras to Australia for the second leg game which would take place just a few short days later.
The Honduran team was forced to travel commercial, which meant that they had a long and arduous journey that involved many stops.
The Australian side, however, chartered their own plane and travelled direct from Honduras to Australia. In addition, they hired various professionals to provide treatment to the players during the trip.
The results were obvious - the tired Honduran side buckled in the second half of the second leg game, while the rested Australians ran up the score, eventually winning 3-1.
There will be no room for maneuvering in the World Cup, however, and that means trouble for the Australians, as they will be forced to play one of the favourites to win the tournament in their opening round match, as they face the French side.
