Chael Sonnen will be taking on Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 159: Sonnen vs Jones this weekend. The fight, which will be for the UFC Light Heavyweight title, will be taking place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

According to bookmakers, Chael Sonnen has virtually no chance of beating Jon Jones this Saturday. Let's take a look at the current betting odds, courtesy of Bodog:

Jon Jones, -800
Chael Sonnen, +500

According to these odds, you would have to wager a total of $800 on Jones in order to have a chance of winning $100 in profit. A $100 wager on Chael Sonnen, on the other hand, would yield a total profit of $500 if he were able to pull off the big upset.

As mentioned, most people are under the assumption that Chael Sonnen has virtually zero chance of winning this fight. The general line of thought is that there are people who are far more worthy to fight Jon Jones in this fight, and that Sonnen got the fight solely because of his ability to talk trash and sell fights.

Sonnen and Jones had the chance to fight at UFC 151 following a late injury to Dan Henderson. Henderson was forced to pull himself out of his scheduled bout with Jon Jones just a week before the fight, and the UFC had a very hard time finding a suitable opponent for Jones. Sonnen, who was coming off of a second round loss to Anderson Silva at Middleweight, offered to step up and fight Jones. Jones and his camp declined the fight, which led to the cancellation of the event.

The UFC rewarded Sonnen by giving him the fight against Jones at UFC 159, despite the fact that Sonnen is just now moving up to Light Heavyweight. Sonnen didn't have to fight any contenders in order to get a shot at the title - instead, he was elevated straight into a title fight, and that fact has upset many.

Chael Sonnen is known for his strong wrestling, but Jones is the much bigger fighter who also possesses very strong (and underrated) wrestling. If this becomes a striking war, it is thought, Sonnen will have little to no chance of winning. Sonnen getting Jones down and inflicting the kind of ground-and-pound that he did on Anderson Silva during their first fight seems highly unlikely.
