This season included a ridiculous 10-game stretch where Chamberlain scored a total of 570 points, meaning that he averaged 57 points per game.
This torrid stretch started on March 2nd, 1962, when Chamberlain famously scored 100 points in a single game against the New York Knicks. This continues to be the highest single game output in the history of the NBA.
Chamberlain didn't slow down very much in the following nine games, as he reeled off an impressive 470 points over the nine game stretch. This included four 60 point games (67, 65, 61 and 61 points), and a 50 point game against Detroit.
To put Chamberlain's numbers into some perspective, Michael Jordan's best 10-game stretch came during the 1986-87 regular season when he scored a total of 469 points in 10 games, for an average of 46.9 points per game.
Kobe Bryant's best 10-game scoring stretch came during the 2005-06 regular season, when he scored 436 points in 10 games, for an average of 43.6 points per game.
Players like Elgin Baylor and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar both had impressive 10-game scoring streaks as well, but neither came even close to Wilt Chamberlain.
