Norwich City Leads The Way With Five Relegations

Norwich City - The team which keeps getting promoted and relegated from the English Premier League. Some teams get relegated from the English Premier League, never to return. The relegation is devastating in many ways, and some teams simply can not hold it together to make another trip up to the EPL.

Some teams move up to the English Premier League and stay there. These are usually teams with great ownership groups that have a willingness to spend the money that comes from being in the English Premier League.

Some teams, on the other hand, seem to be constantly up and down.

These "yo-yo clubs", as they are called, constantly have to deal with the agony and ecstacy of moving up and down from the English Premier League.

Since the formation of the English Premier League, a number of clubs have been relegated a total of four times. This includes the likes of Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough, to name a few.

One team, however, has been relegated five times, as they constantly seem to be "yo-yoing" from the Premier League.

This club is Norwich City.

Since the formation of the English Premier League, Norwich City has been relegated in 1994/95, 2004/05, 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2019/20.

The club is, amazingly, back up again in the English Premier League this season, and could be relegated for a record-setting sixth time.

As a matter of fact, Norwich City are the current favourites to be relegated at the end of this year.

Norwich City is owned by a couple of celebrity chefs - Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones.

While other teams have been purchased by deep-pocketed billionaires, Norwich City has to operate with a tighter bankroll.

The club has performed admirably given the constraints, though this is the reason why the team is always up and down. They have enough talent to make it into the English Premier League, though not enough talent to stay there.

Manchester United, for instance, has a payroll of nearly 200 million pounds.

Norwich City, on the other hand, has the league's lowest payroll (by far), clocking in at just 6.4 million pounds.

The story shouldn't really be that Norwich City holds the record for most relegations.

Instead, the story should be - how do they find themselves getting back to the English Premier League so often?
