Earlier today, Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time to take home the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Germany, which was clearly the better team on Sunday, found themselves in the finals following a historic 7-1 rout of host nation Brazil. Argentina, on the other hand, managed to get by the Netherlands in penalty kicks.

Lionel Messi, who had a magical tournament, wasn't able to penetrate the German defense, though he did come close. In the end, an extra time goal from Mario Gotze was the difference as Germany clinched their fourth World Cup title.
