MMA odds for the potential fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Could Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather actually square off against each other in the Octagon?

In the lead-up to their boxing match, Floyd Mayweather made several suggestions that he might fight Conor McGregor in the Octagon at a later date.

After Mayweather stopped McGregor in the tenth round of their boxing match, the world started to wonder if Mayweather would actually venture into the Octagon. Sure, he would be at a major disadvantage if he ever fought MMA against McGregor, though the money might be too big to turn down.

Over the past couple of months, Mayweather has posted several Instagram videos of himself training inside of an Octagon, which has led many to wonder if he actually might take the next step and agree to fight McGregor in the UFC.

While Mayweather was certainly the better boxer of the two, McGregor would be miles ahead of Mayweather in the Octagon. In fact, it would be hard to imagine Mayweather having even the slightest chance against McGregor in the Octagon. After all, in MMA, kicks, knees, elbows and ground fighting are all legal, and all of those things would completely befuddle Mayweather. If you want an example of how a McGregor/Mayweather fight might go, just go back and rewatch James Toney vs Randy Couture. McGregor/Mayweather would be like that, only with more striking from McGregor before the fight ended.

If McGregor and Mayweather ever do step inside of the Octagon against the other, the odds would look something like this:

Time Stamp: February 24th, 2018 5:56 pm EST
Odds Subject to Change

Conor McGregor, 1/16
Floyd Mayweather, 9/1

This is what the odds currently look like at the moment, though you can safely assume that the smart money would pile on McGregor if the fight were to ever happen.

It seems hard to imagine Mayweather ever taking that kind of risk, as he is extremely protective of his legacy.

Though, if the money were right, anything might be possible.
