Sunday will feature the "Merseyside Derby" that pits Everton against Liverpool. Since 1894, Everton and Liverpool have met a total of 224 times. Everton has surpassed expectations so far this season, as they currently sit in 5th place with a record of 3-3-1. Liverpool, on the other hand, has gotten off to a very poor start, as they sit in 9th place with a record of 3-2-2.
Everton, by virtue of their home field advantage, has the very narrow edge to win this contest, as they are currently listed at 2.50 to win, while Liverpool is listed at 2.80.
Next up? A very important battle between Manchester United and Arsenal. Manchester United has surprised many so far, as they currently sit at the top of the English Premier League standings with a record of 5-1-1. Arsenal, on the other hand, sits in 4th place with a record of 4-1-2. Arsenal currently sits three points behind Man Utd, which means that a Gunners victory at home could vault them into a tie for first place, depending on what happens in the Man City vs Newcastle contest.
Arsenal is the favourite to win on Saturday, as they are currently listed at 2.00 to win, while Man Utd is listed at 3.75.
Bayern Munich, fresh off of an emphatic win over Dinamo Zagreb in Champions League play this past week, will be playing host to Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga action this weekend. Bayern Munich, as expected, currently sits atop the Bundesliga standings with a perfect 7-0-0 record, while Borussia Dortmund is in second place with a record of 5-2-0. After failing in their bid to claim the Champions League title last season, Bayern Munich seems bent on revenge.
Lastly, an intriguing La Liga battle will pit Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid. Villarreal and Celta Vigo currently sit at the top of the La Liga standings right now, while Barcelona and Real Madrid trail close behind. It is expected to be a two-horse race between Real Madrid and Barcelona this year, which means that Real Madrid needs to claim points whenever they can.
