Floyd Mayweather vs Robert Guerrero Odds

On Saturday, May 4th, Floyd "Money" Mayweather will be taking on Robert "Ghost" Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This fight will be the first of a six-fight, 30-month deal between Mayweather and Showtime. Showtime presumably shelled out hundreds of millions of dollars in guarantees to wrest Mayweather away from HBO.

With the recent troubles that Manny Pacquiao has run into, Floyd Mayweather is now the undisputed king of PPV in boxing. Sure, the "super" fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather will likely never happen, but Mayweather is still poised to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars during the last few years of his career.

Heading into the Guerrero fight, Floyd "Money" Mayweather has a perfect 43-0-0 record as a professional, with 26 of his victories coming via knockout. In Mayweather's last three fights, he has knocked out Victor Ortiz and beaten both Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley via unanimous decision.

Robert "Ghost" Guerrero, on the other hand, currently possesses a record of 31-1-1. Guerrero is currently in the midst of a long winning streak that dates back until late 2006. In recent years, Guerrero has been able to notch wins over Andre Berto, Vicente Escobedo and Joel Casamayor.

As expected, Floyd Mayweather has opened as a big favorite over Robert Guerrero in Las Vegas. Here are the current betting odds:

Robert Guerrero, +650
Floyd Mayweather, -1250

These odds mean that a $100 bet on Guerrero would yield a total profit of $650 (if he pulled out the upset), while a $1,250 bet on Mayweather would return a total profit of $100.

I would expect these odds to remain more or less the same as the fight approaches in May.
