Liverpool Favourites Away From Home on Sunday

This week's Sunday English Premier League tilt will see Newcastle play host to Liverpool. Liverpool, despite playing outside of their friendly confines of home, enters this game as the clear favourite to win.

Liverpool, which enters Sunday's contest in 6th place in the table (6-5-3, 23 points), has their eye on a potential Champions League spot for next season. In order to qualify, however, Liverpool will have to move past teams such as Tottenham. There is still time for Liverpool to make a run at the top of the table, but they will have to make sure that they secure a full three points against teams such as Newcastle.

Newcastle, on the other hand, enters Sunday's contest in 19th place in the table with a record of 2-4-8 (10 points). Newcastle is playing for something entirely different at this point - they want to avoid the embarrassment and financial hardship of relegation. There is time for Newcastle to make a move, as they are only two points away from the relegation line, though they will have to turn around their season soon.

Liverpool enters this contest having won three out of their last four games, including one-sided defeats of both Manchester City and Chelsea. Newcastle Utd, on the other hand, has won just once in their last four contests.

Both teams have had troubles finding the net this season, as Newcastle has scored 14 goals while Liverpool has managed to notch just 18 tallies. The difference between the two teams, however, can be found in the goals allowed, as Newcastle has allowed double the total that Liverpool has (30 vs 15).

Here are the odds for Sunday's contest between Newcastle and Liverpool:

Newcastle, 5.50
Draw, 3.75
Liverpool, 1.61

The concern for Newcastle fans is that they just don't possess the offensive talent needed to get past skilled teams such as Liverpool. The Newcastle player with the best odds to score, for instance, is Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is currently listed at 3.75 to score on Sunday.

Given Newcastle's struggles in finding the net, I think that Liverpool will notch a 2-0 victory on the road to move themselves further up the EPL ladder.
