Mayweather Set To Receive $32.5 Million Plus From This Fight

It's good to be Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

The boxer, who is almost unanimously considered to be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world right now, is set for another big payday on Saturday night. As part of his lucrative Showtime deal, Mayweather is set to receive a minimum of $32.5 million for his fight against Marcos Rene Maidana.

Even better for Mayweather? There is almost no chance that he loses to Maidana. With his fight against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, there was at least the slight possibility of Alvarez winning the fight. However, virtually nobody is giving Maidana a chance of winning Saturday night's fight, though some are saying that he has a "puncher's chance". Going against the best defensive boxer in the world in Floyd Mayweather, I say - no chance.

Here are the current betting odds for Mayweather/Maidana:

Floyd "Money" Mayweather, -1000
Marcos Rene "El Chino" Maidana, +600

In case you were thinking about throwing some money down on this fight, these numbers mean that a successful $1,000 wager on Mayweather would yield a total profit of $100, while a successful $100 bet on Maidana would return a total profit of $600.

Sure, Maidana has a "chance", albeit a very small one. There is no chance that Maidana outboxes Mayweather - the only chance of victory for Maidana is some sort of unexpected punch that staggers Mayweather, but I don't see that happening.

Mayweather may very well lose before he decides to hang up his gloves, but I don't see Maidana as the man to do it.

Will the fight go the distance? The bookmakers certainly think so:

Over 11 1/2 Rounds, -280
Under 11 1/2 Rounds, +190

Lastly, if you think that Maidana does score the surprise knockout of Mayweather, here are the odds of that happening:

Marcos Rene Maidana by KO, TKO or DQ, +850
