Mayweather Looks to Beat Maidana Again
Published on September 12th, 2014 11:32 pm ESTFloyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. will be squaring off this Saturday night against Marcos Rene "El Chino" Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be shown on Showtime PPV as part of Mayweather's lucrative deal with the company.
Mayweather and Maidana have fought once before, with Mayweather winning a unanimous decision in May of 2014. While it was another victory for Mayweather, Maidana was quite competitive, which is why Mayweather agreed to fight the Argentinian again. There were other names mentioned but Mayweather elected to step into the ring once again against the fan friendly Maidana.
Maidana is known for his hard hitting style, as he has been able to win 31 of his 39 fights via knockout. There is always the "puncher's chance" when Maidana steps into the ring, which is what makes Saturday's match so compelling. In addition, Maidana did quite well in the first fight against Mayweather, earning the respect of Mayweather and the millions of fans that watched the tilt.
