What does the term "NFL betting lines" mean in the world of sports betting? What is meant by "NFL betting lines"?

NFL betting lines are the different types of bets that are available for any single NFL game.

What are the Betting Lines when it comes to the National Football League (NFL)? The King provides an answer. In photo: Tom Brady, during his time with the New England Patriots, eying the pass. The three most popular types of NFL betting lines?

1. Spread.
2. Total.
3. Money Line.

The "spread" is the most popular type of NFL betting line.

The "spread" is where teams are given or deducted points, based on whether they are the favorite or underdog in the game.

For instance, a "spread" might look like this:

Denver Broncos, +3.5
New England Patriots, -3.5

So, in this case, if you wanted to take the Broncos +3.5, you'd win your bet if the Broncos either won the game straight up or lost by 3 or less points.

On the other hand, if you take the Patriots -3.5, they would need to win the game by 4 or more points in order for you to win your wager.

The "total" is when you bet on whether there will be more or less points than the assigned total number of points.

For instance - let's say that the Broncos are playing the Patriots.

The "total" for the game is set at 47 points.

You can bet the "under", meaning that you will win if there are less than 47 points scored in the game by BOTH teams.

You can also bet the "over", which will win if there are more than 47 points scored in the contest.

Lastly, the "money line" is when you bet on a team to win straight up, with no points being given or taken away.

For instance, a money line might look like this:

Denver Broncos, +260
New England Patriots, -200

These odds mean that a successful $100 bet on the Broncos would return a total profit of $260, while a successful $200 bet on the Patriots would return a total profit of $100.

There are many, many other types of lines that you can bet on when it comes to the NFL, though these are the three most popular, and receive, by far, the most amount of money.
