When Even the Best Quarterbacks Get Sacked Twelve Times. In photo: Donovan McNabb. Getting sacked five or six times in a single game is considered to be a very bad day for a quarterback.

12 times? That's insane.

Three quarterbacks - Donovan McNabb, Warren Moon and Bert Jones - have all been sacked a total of 12 times in a single game.

It's interesting because all three of these quarterbacks were quality - Bert Jones won MVP in 1976, Warren Moon was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and McNabb is a candidate for induction into the Hall of Fame every year.

This goes to show that even the best quarterbacks can't escape if their offensive line isn't doing the job.

Bert Jones was sacked 12 times in a game againsd t the St. Louis Rams on October 26th, 1980. The game was a close one, with the Rams winning by a score of 17-10.

Jones played a decent game on that day, throwing for 250 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

The Rams defense was hellacious that day, however, as they managed to bring Jones down 12 times.

On Spetember 29th, 1985, Warren Moon and the Houston Oilers were playing host to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys won the game by a score of 17-10, helped mightily by the fact that they brought down Warren Moon twelve times over the course of the game.

Moon was clearly rattled in this game, as he threw for a touchdown and four interceptions. While Bert Jones handled the pressure very well, Moon was thrown off of his game by the relentless attack.

Lastly, Donovan McNabb was sacked twelve times in a 16-3 loss to the New York Gi
ants on September 30th, 2007.

McNabb had a tough day at the office, throwing for just 138 yards, 0 touchdowns
and 0 interceptions.

This result was probably shocking for McNabb, as the week before he had put together a four touchdown masterpiece against the Detroit Lions.

Will this record ever be broken?
