Fan favourite Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit will be making his eagerly anticipated return to the Octagon on May 30th when he does battle against former title contender Thiago Alves in a Welterweight clash.

Carlos Condit was last seen at UFC 171 in March of 2014 when he lost to Tyron Woodley. Condit blew out his knee in the second round of the fight and was forced to tap - Condit ended up suffering a torn ACL and partially torn meniscus which would keep him out of action for nearly 18 months. The UFC has dearly missed Condit, as he rarely puts on boring fights. Condit is currently the #3 ranked fighter in the UFC's Welterweight division and could stake a claim to a title shot with an impressive win over Alves.

Thiago Alves, on the other hand, is currently riding a two fight winning streak that includes wins over Jordan Mein and Seth Baczynski. As mentioned, Alves is a former title contender - he famously fought Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100 in July of 2009 and lost via unanimous decision. Since that fight, Alves has gone 4-3, notching wins against John Howard, Jordan Mein, Seth Baczynski and Papy Abedi.

Both men are bonus machines and both men are fully capable of spectacular finishes. There is almost no way that his fight goes to a decision.

Here are the current odds for the fight:

Thiago Alves, 2.90
Carlos Condit, 1.40

Let's break down these odds a bit. According to the oddsmakers, these odds mean that Thiago Alves will win this fight 34.48% of the time, while Condit will win 71.43% of the time.

The one main concern with Condit is ring rust. After all, he hasn't fought in nearly 1 1/2 years and may end up being a bit rusty. Against a headhunter like Thiago Alves, this may be a recipe for disaster. This is why this fight is so intriguing.
