French Open 2018 - Womens - Odds to win - Simona Halep is the favourite. There is no doubt that Serena Williams is the most dominant female player in the history of tennis. Williams has won a total of 72 titles over the course of her professional career, including 23 Grand Slams.

Williams, however, is 36 years of age and is coming off of the birth of her first child. Currently ranked #449 in the world (due to inactivity), Williams is looking to regain her form on the clay courts of Roland-Garros.

Over the course of her career, Williams has won the French Open a total of three times, with her most recent win coming in 2015. That being said, of the four Grand Slam events, Williams has enjoyed, by far, the least amount of success at the French Open. Clay courts are probably Williams' least favourite surface (that is usually the case with power tennis players) and it will be tough for Williams to pull out a win at the French Open this year.

Heading into the French Open this week, Williams is currently listed at 12/1 to win. Depending on the sports book, these odds increase to as much as 7/1, though those are sucker's bets in my opinion, as Williams is a big-time underdog to get to the finals of the tournament, let alone win.

It will be interesting to see if Williams will be able to regain her past form following the birth of her child. After all, Williams has had a long and storied career and she has absolutely nothing left to prove. Can her competitive spirit drive Williams to another win?
