The race, which was first established in 1961, is open to all horses three years and older. The race is run on a straight turf track that measures 1,006 metres in length.
The race at Rowley Mile is set on the site of King Charles II's royal residence.
Mabs Cross, which was helmed by the team of Paul Mulrennan and Michael Dods, has won the last two Palace House Stakes races in a row. Mabs Cross will not be running this year, which opens up the field to other challengers. The Palace House Stakes takes place annually in late April or early May as part of the prestigious Guineas Festival.
It is classified as a Group 3 race, which denotes it as a race of high quality, but below the top Group 1 and Group 2 races.
