The story of Patz takes an unexpected turn. The story of "Parlay Patz" has certainly had an interesting run over the past couple of months.

A few months ago, Benjamin Tucker Patz, aka "Parlay Patz", was making news for winning more than a million dollars on "parlays". Patz was living the life, flying to locales in a private jet and enjoying the spoils of his riches.

The story of Patz took an interesting turn earlier today when he was charged with transmitting threats to members of the Tampa Bay Rays and other professional athletes.

The charges were announced by United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez on behalf of the Department of Justice.

According to the complaint (linked at the bottom), Patz made "numerous threats to carry out violence" against multiple professional athletes and their families.

Patz reportedly threatened to "enter the athletes' homes and behead them or their family members". These threats were transmitted using anonymous Instagram accounts.

The case against Patz was investigated by the FBI and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick Scruggs.

According to the complaint, Patz could face a maximum of five years in federal prison if he is found guilty of transmitting threats in interstate or foreign commerce.

Let's hope that Patz still has some of his parlay money, as the lawyer's fees are going to add up pretty quickly.
