Was there ever any doubt?

As the French Open progressed, one thing remained constant - Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were the two overwhelming favourites to square off in the finals.

There were no upsets along the way as both Nadal and Djokovic breezed into the finals. Nadal destroyed Andy Murray 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 to gain entrance into the finals, while Djokovic needed to put in a little more work to put away Ernests Gulbis 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

With that, Nadal and Djokovic will be squaring off for the 42nd time on Sunday.

There will be plenty on the line for both men on Sunday, as the winner will be the new #1 ranked player in the world. Nadal has held the edge for most of the year, but Djokovic could retake the top spot on Sunday with a victory.

A win for Nadal on Sunday would give him his ninth career title at the French Open, while a win for Djokovic would make him just the eighth man to ever win a career "grand slam".

Nadal is nearly unbeatable on clay and has had a very easy time of things so far in this tournament, while Djokovic is also very good on the surface.

Heading into the tournament, Djokovic was actually the slight favourite to win, followed by Nadal.

Given Nadal's dominating performances over the past two weeks, he is now the favourite to win on Sunday, as you can see from the odds below:

Rafael Nadal, 1.86
Novak Djokovic, 2.10

Again, the odds are very close and things could certainly go either way.

Fans are in for a treat on Sunday as Djokovic and Nadal continue their historic rivalry. This should be a great match.
