Jerry Rice is the wide receiver GOAT. Jerry Rice is, without question, the greatest wide receiver in the history of the NFL.

In fact, Rice is arguably the best player in the history of the NFL.

If you are 40 years of age or younger, you might not fully realize just how good Jerry Rice was.

Here are FIVE STATS that prove why Jerry Rice was the greatest ever at his position:

1) 22,895 Receiving Yards

Jerry Rice is more than five thousand yards ahead of the next closest wide receiver when it comes to receiving yards. Here is where the numbers sit as of this moment:

1. Jerry Rice, 22,895 yards
2. Larry Fitzgerald, 17,492 yards
3. Terrell Owens, 15,934 yards
4. Randy Moss, 15,292 yards
5. Isaac Bruce, 15,208 yards

2) 197 Receiving Touchdowns

Jerry Rice is 41 touchdowns ahead of the next closest wide receiver (Randy Moss).

Rice is an unbelievable 76 receiving touchdowns ahead of the next closest active player (Larry Fitzgerald, 121 receiving touchdowns).

3) 11 Straight 1,000+ Receiving Yards Seasons

In Rice's second season in the league, he caught 86 passes for 1,570 receiving yards.

Jerry Rice would post 1,000+ receiving yards for the next decade plus, and this streak would only be ended due to injury.

4) 1,211 Receiving Yard Season at the Age of 40

At the age of 40, Jerry Rice caught 92 passes for 1,211 yards and 7 touchdowns.

In fact, from the age of 39-41, Rice posted well over 3,000 receiving yards.

These are numbers that will almost certainly never be touched.

5) 2,245 Postseason Receiving Yards

Jerry Rice is more than 800 yards ahead of the next closest player in terms of postseason receiving yards, as Julian Edelman finished his career with 1,442.

Travis Kelce has the most postseason yards as an active player (1,291), though he still has a very large amount of distance to cover.
