What is the "Larry Bird Trophy"? What is the definition of the term "Larry Bird Trophy"?

During the 2021-22 NBA postseason, the league announced that they had created a number of new trophies.

One of these trophies is called the "Larry Bird Trophy", and will be given annually to the Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

Larry Bird won three titles with the Celtics in the '80s (1981, 1984 and 1986) and was named Finals MVP twice.


The trophy for the Western Conference Finals MVP is, as you can expect, called the Magic Johnson Trophy.

The Eastern Conference has some very good teams currently, including the likes of the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat and others.

Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jimmy Butler are all names that you can likely expect to contend for the Larry Bird Trophy in the future.
