Earlier today, Andy Murray of the United Kingdom defeated Roger Federer 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 to move on to the finals of the 2013 Australian Open.

Andy Murray will be squaring off against #1 ranked Novak Djokovic, who easily breezed past David Ferrer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 to earn himself another shot at the Australian Open title. Djokovic will be looking to win his third straight Australian Open title and fourth of his career - in addition to winning the tournament in 2011 and 2012, Djokovic also took home the title in 2008.

Djokovic was very nearly knocked out of the tournament in the fourth round after barely beating Stanislas Wawrinka 1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-7, 12-10. Many thought that the taxing affair would result in Djokovic being bounced from the tournament in the quarterfinals, but he was able to steady the ship and return to form. Djokovic's easy victory over Ferrer in the semis will give the world's #1 ranked player some welcome rest heading into the finals.

Murray, on the other hand, had a very easy go until the semifinals, when he tangled with Roger Federer in an epic five set match. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact this long match has on Murray.

Murray has been on quite a roll as of late, having recently won the 2012 US Open. In addition, Murray made the finals of Wimbledon and won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
