Aaron Gibson, the #27 overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, remains the heaviest player to have ever played in the NFL.
At one point in his career, Gibson weighed in at 410 pounds, which is still the record to this day.
Gibson developed a love of football in high school. At one point, Gibson actually lettered in track and field. Gibson's track and field days were numbered, however, as he would soon be tipping the scales at 350 pounds while still in high school.
Gibson started to attract attention while playing offensive tackle for the Decatur Central High School team. Gibson was quick and massive, and he made it nearly impossible for the opposing team to get their hands on Gibson's quarterback.
Gibson parlayed his skills into a full scholarship with the University of Wisconsin. After missing his first year due to Proposition 48, Gibson was primarily a bench player in his sophomore year.
Gibson would be named one of Wisconsin's starting offensive tackles in his junior year, and he would establish himself as one of the best tackles in the nation, being named as a first-team All-American in 1998.
Aaron Gibson would weigh in at 386 pounds at the 1999 Scouting Combine, though he was still able to run a 5.23 40-yard dash - an incredible number for a man who was nearly 400 pounds.
These numbers obviously impressed the Detroit Lions, who drafted him with their first round pick in 1997.

Gibson would see his career limited by injuries, as he suffered a serious left shoulder injury in his rookie year.
Gibson, who would eventually weigh in at over 400 pounds, would bounce around from team-to-team, largely due to his injury issues. Gibson was clearly very talented, though he just couldn't stay healthy.
Gibson would play in the Arena Football Year for four years before eventually saying goodbye to professional football at the end of the 2010 season.
