Capitals vs Maple Leafs January 31st Odds

Published on January 31st, 2013 1:53 pm EST
On Thursday, January 31st, the Toronto Maple Leafs will play host to the Washington Capitals.

Neither team has come out of the starting gate particularly fast - the Toronto Maple Leafs are 3-3-0 through the first six games of the season, while the Washington Capitals are 1-4-1. Most people expected the Maple Leafs to be a .500 team, but eyebrows are being raised over the exceptionally slow start of the Capitals. Much of the blame for the Capitals' slow start is being put on Alexander Ovechkin, who has just two points through the first six games of the campaign.

The Maple Leafs, on the other hand, are struggling with a familiar foe - consistency in the net. James Reimer and Ben Scrivens can look great one night and absolutely terrible the next. The Leafs have been mentioned regularly as being interested in Vancouver Canucks' goaltender Roberto Luongo, but no deal has been made as of yet.

The Capitals are 0-2-1 on the road this year, while the Maple Leafs are 0-2-0 at home.

The Leafs are very small favourites to win on Thursday night, but the game is basically a pick'em.
