The Oklahoma City Thunder will travel to San Antonio tonight to kick off their Western Conference Finals series against the San Antonio Spurs.

When it comes to the Western Conference, the Thunder/Spurs match-up is what practically everyone was predicting before the season got underway. The Thunder and Spurs are the last two teams from the West to advance to the NBA Finals, and both teams want another shot at the title.

In the Thunder you have one of the league's top two players in Kevin Durant, while the Spurs are the well-coached veteran team that has been nearly impossible to beat so far this season.

The Thunder are coming off of a couple of tough series against the Grizzlies and the Clippers, while the Spurs had an easy time of things against the upstart Portland Blazers.

The Spurs are widely regarded to have the best coach in basketball, while the Thunder have this season's MVP. How will the Spurs play Durant? How will the Thunder cope with the grizzled veterans of the Spurs?

According to the bookmakers, the Spurs are the clear favourites to win this series.

Let's take a look at the current betting odds for the series:

Oklahoma City Thunder, +185
San Antonio Spurs, -225

So, according to these odds, a successful $100 bet on the Thunder to win the series would yield a return of $185, while a successful $225 wager on the Spurs would return a total profit of $100.

Everybody keeps expecting the Spurs to fall off, but it never seems to happen. Following last season's heartbreaking loss to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, the Spurs seem hellbent on returning to extract their revenge. The question - can they get by Kevin Durant and the Thunder?

One thing is for sure - the Thunder will be relying heavily (even more so than usual) on Kevin Durant to get them by the Spurs. Can he do it?
