American Football - NFL - Odds to win MVP for 2018. As of this moment, the race to win the NFL's MVP award this season is down to two men - Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees.

Pick your favourite sports book and you will likely see that Mahomes and Brees are each coin flips to win the award. This is not a surprise given how well their two respective teams are doing, as the Chiefs and Saints are currently the cream of the crop in the NFL.

That sound you hear, however, is Philip Rivers dramatically making up ground as the new dark horse in the MVP race.

A few weeks ago, nobody was better than 20/1 to win the MVP award after Brees and Mahomes.

Thanks to two thrilling victories over stiff competition (Steelers, Chiefs, both of which were on the road), Rivers has suddenly thrust himself into the conversation as he has led the Chargers to a record of 11-3, despite the fact that Mel Gordon has been out of the line-up for the past couple of weeks.

In the past, the Chargers were always full of talent but could never quite win the big game. This year, however, things are totally opposite, as the Chargers are winning practically every close game. Rivers is one of the biggest reasons why, as he has remained calm and cool under pressure this season.

Let's take a look at the current odds to win the MVP award as of this moment:

Mahomes -105
Brees -110
Rivers +700
Donald +3300
Gurley +4000
Goff +4000
Luck +4000
Wilson +5000
Watson +10000

As mentioned, nobody was better than +2000 as of a few weeks ago, which shows you how hard of a charge Rivers has made over the past couple of weeks.

The Chiefs and Chargers are both 11-3, while the Rams and Saints are 11-2 respectively.

If the Chargers continue their strong play and end up with the #1 seed in the AFC, can voters possibly deny Rivers the MVP award, especially given the fact that Mel Gordon has been out of the line-up?
