Ruud van Nistelrooy is a former Dutch striker, famous for his scoring record on the football pitch.

He was known for his sharp instincts in front of goal and clinical finishes. He wasn't fast, but he had a talent for creating and seizing scoring opportunities.

Fans nicknamed him "Van the Man" for his critical role in games, and "Ruud van Goal" (also "Van Gol") for his prolific scoring.

After a stellar early period in the Dutch league, he transferred to Manchester United in 2001, setting a British transfer record. There, he was a standout Premier League striker, winning a league title and also the top scorer's award.

In 2006, van Nistelrooy joined Real Madrid, continuing his success with two La Liga titles and a Pichichi Trophy for being the league's top scorer.

For his country of Netherlands, he scored in various major tournaments and was known for his contributions to the national team's successes during the early 2000s.
