Ayrton Senna da Silva drove for Lotus, McLaren and Williams throughout this career and won the International Racing Driver of the Year Award three times in 1988, 1991 and 1993.

Senna started his career in karting. During his Formula 3 days he earned the nickname "Silvastone" for dominating the famous Silverstone track in England, winning six out of eight races there.

In Formula 1, Senna holds several records that have not been broken to this day. One of them is six wins in the Monaco Grand Prix. "Magic Senna" as some called him, won more races for the McLaren racing team than anyone else.

Ayrton Senna was famous for his one-lap qualifying speed and had the most pole positions on record during his time. Only Lewis Hamilton has managed to break this record in recent years. Senna was also famous for his performances in wet weather, earning him the nickname "The King of Rain".

Ayrton Senna tragically died in an accident, while being in the lead at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. After his death it was found that over the years he had donated over $400 million of his wealth to help the less fortunate children in his native Brazil.
