Sports Nicknames - The Noodle (Fideo)

Angel Di Maria is one of the top wingers in the game of football. The left-footed Argentine is quick, strong, tricky and creative. He is a technical dribbler and a nightmare for the opposing players once he gets on the ball.

He started his career in Rosario Central in Argentina and made a name for himself while playing for Benfica in Portugal. Di Maria earned the call from the Argentina national side in 2008 and in that same year, playing alongside Lionel Messi, he scored a goal that won the team the Olympic gold medal.

A big money move to Real Madrid happened in 2010, where Angel enjoyed playing in tandem with another soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The two helped the Los Blancos win the long awaited La Decima - the 10th Champions League trophy for the club.

Angel Di Maria had a short stint at Manchester United in 2014 and moved on to a more permanent spot at Paris Saint-Germain, where he still plays at the time of this writing (Sept 2021).

Nicknamed 'The Noodle' or 'Fideo' in Spanish because of his slender frame, the hard working, speedy Argentine is one of the modern day football icons.
