That was until somebody walked into a Las Vegas area casino and put down "millions of dollars" on the Eagles to win.

There has been no confirmation as of yet as to whether or not the bettor took the points as well or just put in a straight up money line bet.

If the bettor took the Eagles plus 5 points, he would stand to make a profit of 90%.

A money line wager, on the other hand, would result in a much larger potential payday. If the bettor put down $2 million, this means that he would stand to win nearly $4 million in profit if the Eagles won the game straight up.

This would obviously be a great deal to ask, as the Patriots have won 5 Super Bowls and the Eagles are missing their MVP-candidate in Carson Wentz.

On the other hand, the Eagles steam-rolled the Vikings in the NFC Championship and have a great deal of momentum right now, despite all of the injuries that they have suffered.

In addition, there is a chance that Gronk might miss the Super Bowl, plus Brady is dealing with a lingering hand injury.

A very large wager such as this isn't really indicative of anything - instead, it simply means that somebody with a great deal of money (such as Floyd Mayweather, who is known for his very large wagers) has decided to back somebody with some of their millions.

What it can do, however, is move the line. The Patriots were 6 point favourites when the line first opened shortly after the Eagles defeated the Vikings, and now they are 5 point favourites.

The sharps will usually sit back and wait until the day before the game to place their wagers, as they are hoping that the amateur gamblers will move the line significantly in one direction or another, which is exactly what has happened.
