Definition of Lucky 15

What is a "Lucky 15" bet? What is the definition of the term "lucky 15", or "lucky 15 bet"?

The King explains the popular term Lucky 15 as it pertains to horse betting. Illustration. In the world of sports betting (especially in the world of horse racing), a "lucky 15" bet occurs when you place 15 different bets on a total of 4 different events.

These 15 bets will consist of:

-Four single bets
-Six double bets
-Four treble bets
-One fourfold accumulator bet

Each bet is treated separately and incurs its own cost. So, for instance, if you decide to do a £2 "Lucky 15" ticket, you would pay a total of £30, as each of the 15 wagers would cost you £2.

With a "Lucky 15" bet, you will realize some sort of a return on your ticket if even one of your selections wins. The most picks that you get right, the more money that you will take home from your ticket. The more exotic the bets that you get right, the more money that you will win.

So - let's say that you are eyeing four horse races that you want to bet on. Here are the horses that you like to win in each of the four races:

Race 1: The King of Buckingham Palace
Race 2: Razor's Edge
Race 3: Darkened Night
Race 4: Tut's Revenge

With your "Lucky 15" ticket, your selections might look something like this:

Single Bet #1 - The King of Buckingham Palace to Win
Single Bet #2 - Razor's Edge to Win
Single Bet #3 - Darkened Night to Win
Single Bet #4 - Tut's Revenge to Win

Double Bet #1 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Razor's Edge to Win
Double Bet #2 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Darkened Night to Win
Double Bet #3 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Tut's Revenge to Win
Double Bet #4 - Razor's Edge, Darkened Night to Win
Double Bet #5 - Razor's Edge, Tut's Revenge to Win
Double Bet #6 - Darkened Night, Tut's Revenge to Win

Treble Bet #1 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Razor's Edge, Darkened Night to Win
Treble Bet #2 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Razor's Edge, Tut's Revenge to Win
Treble Bet #3 - Razor's Edge, Darkened Night, Tut's Revenge to Win
Treble Bet #4 - The King of Buckingham Palace, Tut's Revenge, Darkened Night to Win

Fourfold Accumulator - The King of Buckingham Palace, Razor's Edge, Darkened Night, Tut's Revenge to Win

In order to calculate your return, you need to calculate all of your winning bets and add them up. The winners will have a payout, while the losers will obviously not pay out. Each bet is treated as its own independent bet on your ticket.

So, if the King of Buckingham Palace has odds to win of 3.00 and Darkened Night has odds to win of 7.00, one of your doubles would have a payout that would look like this:

3.00 * 7.00 * £2 = £42
