Chicago Cubs Currently 8/1 To Win World Series
Published on March 1st, 2016 4:43 pm ESTSpring training is currently underway, which means that the 2016 Major League Baseball season is just around the corner.
This should be a fantastic season, as there are probably a dozen teams who have a realistic shot of winning the World Series this year. The Kansas City Royals, fresh off of their win last season, are obviously one of the favourites to win, while the Dodgers, Nationals and Mets, just to name a few, are also considered contenders.
Major League Baseball has a very good situation heading into this season, as a number of major market clubs have very good teams this year. The Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs are all expected to have strong teams this year.
As a matter of fact, the Chicago Cubs, who have been the laughing stock of MLB for many decades, are the current favourites to win the World Series this year. According to online bookmaker William Hill, the Cubs are currently 8/1 to win the World Series.
The Cubs made a postseason appearance last year and still managed to improve their team over the offseason. Chicago is suddenly an appealing destination for free agents, as the team seems poised to finally get rid of their "curse".
