Stephen Thompson Considerable Favourite To Defeat Woodley

UFC 205: McGregor vs Alvarez will feature three title fights - Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight title, Stephen Thompson vs Tyron Woodley for the Welterweight title and Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz for the Strawweight title.

The fight between Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson and Tyron Woodley will serve as the co-main event for the evening. As Woodley mentioned in a pre-UFC 205 press conference, he has been the underdog in his last four fights and his tilt against Thompson will be no different.

Here are the current odds for this fight:

Stephen Thompson, 1.50
Tyron Woodley, 2.70

Woodley possesses a tremendous amount of power, as seen from his 1st round knockout of Robbie Lawler, who is notoriously tough to stop. You would have to imagine that the longer the fight goes, the less of a chance that Woodley has of winning. It seems as though Woodley's best chance of victory is to catch Thompson early, similar to what he did against Lawler.

Thompson, on the other hand, will be looking to keep his distance and stay out of Woodley's wheelhouse. Thompson will look to accomplish this using a multi-layered attack that will include a tremendous amount of kicks. If Thompson can keep Woodley to the outside, he stands an excellent chance of winning.

This fight will likely go one of two ways:

1) Tyron Woodley catches Thompson early and finishes him off

2) Thompson methodically picks Woodley off over the course of the five round fight, similar to how he dismantled Rory MacDonald

This should be a great fight in what should be an interesting clash of styles.
