Real Madrid and Sevilla are set to square off in the 2014 UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday afternoon. The game, which takes place at a different neutral location every year, will take place at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The UEFA Super Cup pits the reigning Champions League winners (Real Madrid) against the reigning Europa League winners (Sevilla).

The UEFA Super Cup will provide Real Madrid and Sevilla with a last opportunity to get some work in before the start of league play in just a week. Given the close proximity to the season, you can safely assume that Real Madrid and Sevilla will both be fielding most or all of their best players.

Both Real Madrid and Sevilla have won this event once before - Real Madrid won in 2002, while Sevilla won in 2006. Real Madrid has participated in the event three times, while Sevilla has played in the event twice.

A few notes about the event:

-the game will be the first in UEFA competition that will utilize the "vanishing spray" that was made popular during the World Cup

-Xabi Alonso will be suspended for the contest due to "breaches of conduct in the Champions League final"

Here are the odds for Tuesday's match in Cardiff:

Real Madrid, 1.40
Draw, 4.75
Sevilla, 7.00

As you can see, Real Madrid is the overwhelming favourite to win, which is certainly not a surprise given that they are the reigning and defending Champions League winners as well as being one of the world's top football teams.

The bookmakers are expecting a high scoring contest in this game, as evidenced by the current over/under line:

Under 2.5 Goals, 2.62
Over 2.5 Goals, 1.44

This line is not surprising given the fact that Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez are all expected to play for Real Madrid.
