Real Madrid is currently in a very bad spot.
After all of their successes last season, Real Madrid now find themselves facing the very real possibility that both their Champions League and La Liga seasons could be lost causes.
Real Madrid is struggling mightily this season, as evidenced by the fact that they currently sit 19 points behind Barcelona in La Liga. They always had Champions League to look forward to, though they ended up drawing PSG in the Round of 16, which could very well mean that they end up getting bounced in this round of play.
In fact, bookmakers currently have PSG as the favourites to move ahead into the quarterfinals:

Real Madrid's struggles this season will almost certainly lead to more talk of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the team. Ronaldo has reportedly been unhappy for a while now, and Real Madrid's potentially horrific season could potentially send him out the door.
For PSG, on the other hand, things couldn't be better, as they are one of the favourites to win Champions League and are currently leading league play by a significant margin. The team gambled by getting Neymar, though the gamble is certainly paying off.
