The #1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will battle the #2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on January 7th in the BCS title game.

Notre Dame was probably the biggest story in college football this year, amassing a perfect record en route to earning a spot in the BCS championship game. Notre Dame, led by third year coach Brian Kelly, capped off a perfect season with a victory over USC.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, on the other hand, will enter the championship game as the #2 seed. The team, coached by Nick Saban, will be looking to win their second straight BCS National Championship title game and third in the last 4 years. Alabama defeated LSU last year 21-0 to win the BCS National Championship game.

Alabama earned their spot in the title game by toppling #3 ranked Georgia last week in a thrilling contest.

Despite the fact that Notre Dame is the #1 ranked team in the country, the Crimson Tide are the favorites to win the Championship game.

Many sports books haven't released odds for the Notre Dame/Alabama game yet, but early indications are that Alabama will be 6 1/2 to 7 point favorites.

Most feel that Alabama is the better of the two teams and that their wealth of experience in BCS Championship games will put them over the top on January 7th. Having said that, Notre Dame has surprised all season, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them run the table and beat Alabama on January 7th.
