Sports Nicknames - Egyptian King, Mo

Mohamed Salah has experienced a rise like few other players have. He has gone from being loaned out repeatedly by Chelsea to being one of the best forwards in the world, breaking the Premier League scoring record for a 38-game season. Because of this rise, he has been given the nickname the "Egyptian King" by Liverpool fans and "The Pharaoh" by others.

Salah left Egypt when the Premier League was suspended in 2012, being signed by Swiss club FC Basel. Here he started making his name on the European stage, scoring against Chelsea and Tottenham in the Europa League, before scoring against the former in the 2013-14 Champions League. This led to some interest from the Blues, where he would sign in 2014.

However, Salah's Chelsea career would not last, as he would be loaned out to Italian sides Fiorentina and Roma. Roma signed him in 2016, where he would help them to be runners-up in Serie A. This success would pique the interest of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who signed him in 2017.

It was in Merseyside that Salah would rise to new heights. At the time of writing, he has scored 110 goals in 175 appearances for the Reds, helping them win the Champions League and their first Premier League title since 1990. With his speed, dribbling ability and lethal finishing, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice, Player of the Season once and the PFA Players' Player of the Year once.

The "Egyptian King" has shown his ability to the world, breaking records at an astonishing speed while at Liverpool. As the COVID-inflicted seasons of 2019-2020 and 2020-21 continue forward, he doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
