Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane during warmup. Wearing 2017/18 season away or third kit. Can Tottenham build on a season that saw them nearly win the English Premier League title following a late season surge? Can Harry Kane win another Golden Boot?

Can Newcastle make the most of their return to the English Premier League and surprise in front of their home fans on Sunday?

Sunday's match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle is a story of two teams that are in two entirely different places.

Tottenham, led by the boot of Harry Kane, wants to take a run at the behemoths of the EPL and win a title after coming so close last season.

Newcastle, on the other hand, is looking for a mid-table finish that will prevent them from having to move back down next season.

Both teams would love a win in their season openers on Sunday - Newcastle wants to get their campaign off to a strong start and give themselves some early space away from the relegation line, while Tottenham will be looking to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United at the top of the table.

Tottenham will be the predictable favourites to win on Sunday - here are the current betting odds:

Newcastle, 22/5
Draw, 3/1
Tottenham, 8/11

Newcastle will be supported by a fan base that will be ecstatic to see their club back in the English Premier League, so don't be surprised if they give Tottenham some early issues. Can they sustain this for an entire game? That remains to be seen.

The bookmakers expect that Newcastle will play a tight game on Saturday in an effort to contain Tottenham's weapons, namely Harry Kane. Because of this, the result with the lowest odds is a 1-1 draw (7/1), followed by 1-0 and 2-1 wins for Tottenham (both 15/2).

I would expect that both sides might be a bit tight given that this is the first game of the season for both clubs.

For that reason, I like the Under 2.5 Goals line at 21/20.
