New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

Published on December 30th, 2013 11:28 pm EST
The Philadelphia Eagles will play host to the New Orleans Saints in one of the two NFC wild card games this weekend. The Eagles/Saints game will get underway at 8:10 pm EST on Saturday, January 4th, and will be shown on NBC.

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to finish atop the NFC East after mounting an impressive late season run, led mostly by the arm of Nick Foles. Foles, who is making just $500,000 in salary this year, took over from Michael Vick earlier in the season and has never looked back. The Eagles managed to topple the Dallas Cowboys on the road to capture the NFC East on the last weekend of the season.

The New Orleans Saints, on the other hand, finished with the #6 seed in the NFC after ceding the division to the Carolina Panthers. The Saints are counting on their wealth of experience to move past the Philadelphia Eagles this Saturday.

The Eagles are currently 2 1/2 point favourites to win on Saturday:

New Orleans Saints, +2 1/2, -110
Philadelphia Eagles, -2 1/2, -110

Here is the money line (straight up odds):

New Orleans Saints, +115
Philadelphia Eagles, -135

Finally, the over/under line:

Under 54.5 points, -110
Over 54.5 points, -110

Some things to consider this weekend:

-the Saints had one of the league’s best passing defenses this year

-the Eagles were dead last in pass yards/game allowed

-the Eagles are entering this game with a ton of momentum

-the experience of Drew Brees and the Saints

Drew Brees and the Saints have been here many times before - will that experience prove to be the tipping point for the game on Saturday?
