Marty Turco delivered one of the greatest goaltending performances in NHL playoff history, yet his Dallas Stars still lost the series. Marty Turco, starting goaltender for the 2006-07 Dallas Stars, likely still shakes his head thinking about the first-round playoff series against the Vancouver Canucks.

You see, Marty Turco posted some of the greatest goaltender stats in the history of the NHL playoffs that year, and still managed to come out on the losing side of the equation.

In 2006-07, Roberto Luongo was at the top of his game for the Vancouver Canucks, stopping practically every puck that came his way. Luongo would have his issues in Vancouver, though his first few years with the team were nothing short of eye-inspiring.

The two goaltenders went back-and-forth throughout the series, though Turco posted some truly eye-popping numbers:

3-4 record
1.30 GAA
.952 SV%
3 Shutouts

That's right - Marty Turco posted those numbers and the Dallas Stars LOST the series.

On April 11th, 2007, the Stars and Canucks battled in one of the longest games in NHL playoff history, as the Canucks won 5-4 in four overtimes.

In Game 2, the Stars won by a score of 2-0.

The Canucks would win Game 3 2-1 in overtime, and would follow this up with another win on the road. The Canucks were heading back home with a 3-1 lead.

In Game 5, the Stars would win 1-0 in overtime, giving Turco his second shutout of the series.

In Game 6, the Stars would win 2-0, giving Turco his second straight shutout and his third of the series.

The Canucks would win Game 7 by a score of 4-1, sending them off to the second round.

Let's look at Marty Turco's shots/goals allowed in the series:

Game 1 - 56 shots, 51 saves
Game 2 - 35 shots, 35 saves
Game 3 - 37 shots, 35 saves
Game 4 - 29 shots, 27 saves
Game 5 - 21 shots, 21 saves
Game 6 - 21 shots, 21 saves
Game 7 - 30 shots, 28 saves

Truly one of the best single-series playoff performances in the history of the NHL.
