Manchester United Current Favourites To Win Europa League
Published on February 17th, 2017 7:35 pm ESTFollowing Thursday's 3-0 win over ASSE in Europa League Round of 32 play, Manchester United remains the clear favourite to win the tournament this year.
While they almost certainly won't contend for the English Premier League title this season, Manchester United's fortunes have improved immensely from earlier in the season. As of this moment, Man Utd sits in sixth place in the table, though they are just 4 points removed from second place. This gives Manchester United a true shot at earning a Champions League position this year, which would certainly make their campaign a success, especially given their tremendous decline last season.
This gives Manchester United two possible chances to qualify for Champions League, as the winner of the Europa League earns a spot in the tournament. Failing a high enough placement in the EPL, Manchester United could potentially earn a spot by winning Europa League.
As of this moment, Manchester United is the favourite to win Europa League this year. Here are the current betting odds to win the tournament outright:
Man Utd, 10/3
Roma, 13/2
Shakhtar Donetsk, 9/1
Tottenham, 9/1
Lyon, 12/1
Schalke 04, 12/1
Athletic Bilbao, 14/1
Fiorentina, 16/1
Besiktas, 25/1
Ajax, 28/1
Zenit, 33/1
FC Copenhagen, 33/1
Rostov, 40/1
Fenerbahce, 50/1
FK Krasnodar, 50/1
Olympiakos, 66/1
Anderlecht, 66/1
Borussia Mgladbach, 50/1
Genk, 80/1
Celta Vigo, 50/1
Legia Warsaw, 150/1
Osmanlispor FK, 150/1
APOEL Nicosia, 250/1
Astra Giurgiu, 250/1
Gent, 250/1
Villarreal, 500/1
Ludogorets Razgrad, 250/1
Sparta Prague, 500/1
St. Etienne, 500/1
AZ Alkmaar, 500/1
Hapoel Beer Sheva, 1000/1
PAOK Saloniki, 1000/1
There are obviously some very strong clubs that could derail Manchester United's Europa League chances, including Roma and Tottenham Hotspur.
For Man Utd fans, however, they have to be emboldened by the quality of their team's play as of late, as Manchester United has only lost once in all competitions since their embarrassing defeat at the hands of Fenerbahce on November 3rd, 2016.
In short, there appears to be a very good chance of Man Utd earning a Champions League berth this season, one way or another.
