Ronaldo Takes Over Race for 2014/15 Spanish La Liga Top Goalscorer Title

Spanish Football League - La Liga - BBVA - Logo - and Goalscorer IllustrationIt sure looks like Cristiano Ronaldo is feeling better and is for the most part over his breakup with Russian model, Irina Shayk, which caused his slump in form over the past few months. He proved it by banging in five goals for Real Madrid in a 9-1 drubbing of Granada over the weekend. His nemesis, Lionel Messi, on the other hand was unusually quiet in Barcelona's 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, probably still bothered by a foot injury that made him sit out the Argentina national team games last week.

After 29 matches played in the Spanish La Liga, and with 9 more to go until the end of the season, the top goalscorer list looks like this:

1 - Cristiano Ronaldo - 36 - Real Madrid
2 - Lionel Messi - 32 - FC Barcelona
3 - Carlos Bacca - 17 - Sevilla FC
3 - Neymar - 17 - - FC Barcelona
5 - Alberto Bueno - 16 - Rayo Vallecano
6 - Antoine Griezmann - 15 - Atletico Madrid
6 - Karim Benzema - 15 - Real Madrid
8 - Gareth Bale - 13 - Real Madrid
9 - Mario Mandzukic - 12 - Atletico Madrid
9 - Luciano Vietto - 12 - Villarreal CF
11 - Aduriz - 11 - Athletic Club
