Picks for the European Super Cup Between Barcelona and Porto and a Few Other Matchups Across Europe
Published on Aug 26th, 2011Rather slow betting Friday is upon us after the crazy last couple of days with a bunch of games in European cups. Still there are some nice picks to be made tonight with a slight mix of leagues which are on display.
Of course, the first is the classic, a European Super Cup between Barcelona and Porto. At this point no one is sure that anyone can face Barcelona without getting toyed with so tonight should be more of the same. 1,33 odd on Barcelona is really not that tempting offered by Bwin betting, however a 2,30 for goals over 3,5 is a pretty solid bet since tonight will be a rather entertaining affair at Stade Louis II of Monaco. In last three games Barcelona has contested there have been four or more goals in each of them, need we say more. Barca has some question marks in their defense for tonight’s game with Puyol and Pique out of the line-up, but there are plenty of players able to fill this void. On the other side Porto will be without the man who brought them the Uefa League title last year with a goal against Braga, Falcao, who moved to Athletico Madrid, while they will also be missing Perreira who is expected to move to Chelsea. All in all expect an entertaining game for fans with a bunch of goals tonight in Monaco.
In the lone Bundesliga match tonight Hertha play hosts to Stuttgart and as always Bundesliga is so hard to call because of the parity of all the teams. We believe that Hertha is due for their first win in this year’s Bundesliga campaign and that Stuttgart might just be the right victim for them. Stuttgart started off strong with a win against Schalke, but has been going downhill since, drawing at Moenchengladbach and losing at home to Bayer Leverkusen. Hertha played two solid away rounds, drawing both of them against Hamburger and Hannover and coming into tonight’s game with a dose of can-do optimism. Look for them to win. For those who like to play it safe here another good bet on this tie is a both teams to score which pays a 1,65 to a dollar. Hertha win pays an odd of 2,45.
In second Bundesliga, there is a team on a roll and its name is Furth. Tonight they are playing away to out of form Bochum. Odd on Furth is 2,55 and if they continue their strong run of form which saw them win their last five games, they should have little trouble dealing with Bochum team which has lost last two games while only winning one in this year’s second Bundesliga campaign. Take the Furth to win this one as they aim to take the first place away from St. Pauli, at least for a night.
Rarely do we give you tips from the small European leagues, but here is one which might do the trick for tonight. It is the Croatian league, known to be kind to the home sides and tonight should be one of those encounters. Rijeka plays Sibenik, and look for Rijeka to win with bookies giving you a 1,62 for such a prediction. Rijeka is currently 7th in the national league table, but undefeated at home, while Sibenik is second to last and their campaign has not looked good this year, especially away from home.
One more pick for all of you out there is a Dutch derby between the two in-form teams, Ajax and Vitesse. The winner should be Ajax but the odds here are rather small rewarding an Ajax win with only a 1,22 odd. Better bet in this match will be that both teams score which pays a solid 1,75 odd.
Good luck tonight to all of you wishes the King…
