Best Betting Sites in Uganda (2026): The League Table
Uganda argues football like nowhere else, so this page ranks the country's betting sites the way it ranks everything else that matters: a league table. Eleven bookmakers, five categories, honest grades in every cell - including the column where our own captain finishes last. Bet365 tops our table on depth, live betting and trust; Fortebet owns the retail column outright, and we say so in plain English. Grades are our editorial opinion, built the way we bet, not the way anyone pays.
The table
| # | Site | Market depth | Live betting | Retail presence | App | Trust | The word |
|---|
| 1 | Bet365 OUR PICK | A+ | A+ | D | A | A+ | The deepest board available to Ugandans and the industry's benchmark in-play product - but no shop on your street, and that D is real. |
| 2 | Fortebet | B | B | A+ | B | A | The green empire: a counter in every trading centre, deep roots in Ugandan football sponsorship, and a retail network nobody else on this table can match. |
| 3 | BetPawa | B | B | B+ | A | A | The general: built app-first for exactly how Uganda stakes - small tickets, quick slips, win bonuses - with a pan-African engine underneath. |
| 4 | Melbet | B | B | C | B- | B- | Huge range and growing fast across the region; still tidying its final ball in Uganda specifically. |
| 5 | 22Bet | A- | B- | D | C+ | B- | An enormous catalogue - leagues nobody else prices - behind an interface that fights you every step. |
| 6 | Betway | B+ | B | C | A- | A | International polish and a clean, dependable product; rarely spectacular, rarely wrong. |
| 7 | Premier Bet | B | B | C+ | B- | B | The experienced winger with a career across a dozen African markets; dependable width, occasional end product. |
| 8 | World Star Betting | C+ | C | B- | B | B | An established East African name that does the simple things and keeps its shape. |
| 9 | GAL Sport Betting | C | C | B | B- | C+ | Genuine Ugandan history and a physical presence, if short on flair in the app. |
| 10 | Bangbet | C | C | C+ | B- | C+ | The quick young playmaker: simple and popular with a new generation, still earning caps at the top level. |
| 11 | 1xBet | A | B | C | B- | C- | Nobody prices more markets, and nobody divides opinion more - the friction stories are too common to leave out of a trust grade. |
Reading the table: grades are relative to this market, and the columns disagree on purpose - no site wins all five. If a counter you can walk to matters more than anything else, the top of your personal table is Fortebet, not Bet365, and we would rather tell you that than pretend the D away.
Why Bet365 tops our table
Three columns carry it. Market depth: more markets per match than any local option, on more competitions - three o'clock in Manchester lands at Kampala supper time, and the depth gap between Bet365 and the locals is the gap between betting the match and betting around it. Live betting: the in-play product is the global benchmark, with cash out that actually works and a bet builder for same-game combinations. Trust: one of the largest bookmakers on the planet, operating under major international licences, with three decades of paying out. Features like live streaming exist in the app where available in your region - what the app shows you in Uganda is the honest answer to what is available.
Where the locals win - and why that column matters
The retail column is not decoration. Fortebet's shop network - a counter on every trading centre, sponsorships woven through Ugandan football - is a product a global bookmaker simply cannot replicate: cash in hand, a person to argue with, no app required. BetPawa built its whole product around how Uganda actually stakes: small tickets, fast slips, win bonuses, no friction. Neither needs Bet365's depth to win their column, because depth was never their argument. Our table says Bet365 on trust and market range; it keeps an honest grade in the retail column because the best table is one you can argue with.
The welcome offer for new customers
A welcome offer may be available for new eligible customers in Uganda. The type and value vary by your location and are shown during registration, together with the full terms - that screen outranks anything any website tells you, including this one. Bonus code THEKING is applied automatically through our links; it is a tracking code and is not necessary to get the offer.
Taxes: the short version
Uganda's betting tax story is genuinely live right now: Parliament passed a harmonised 30% tax on operators' gross gaming revenue and the reintroduction of a 15% withholding tax on players' net winnings, both meant to take effect from July 2026 - and the President then returned the bills, objecting not to the withholding tax itself but to an exemption for land-based casinos written into it. He wants that exemption removed, the Finance Ministry backs him, and the 15% on online betting winnings was never the part at risk. It applies across every operator on this table, local or international. Our
betting apps guide carries the full story; treat both as the picture as of July 2026 and check current rates.
How we grade
Five categories, weighted the way serious bettors actually choose: market depth and live product first, trust always, app quality because Uganda increasingly bets from the phone, and retail presence because pretending the trading-centre counter does not exist would make the whole table dishonest. Bet365 is our commercial partner and our links go there - disclosed here and in the footer - and the other ten sites receive no links and no payment. The grades would read exactly the same if they did.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best betting site in Uganda?Bet365 tops our table on market depth, live betting and trust. If a physical shop matters more to you than anything else, Fortebet tops that column and we say so plainly.
Is Bet365 licensed in Uganda?Bet365 serves Ugandan customers as an international bookmaker under its global licences rather than a local National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board licence, which covers the domestic operators on this table. You must be 18 or older to bet.
Which site has the biggest retail presence?Fortebet, by a distance - a counter on trading centres across the country and deep roots in Ugandan football sponsorship. No international book on this table competes in that column.
Which site is best for the Premier League?Bet365, and it is not close: player markets, bet builder, alternative lines and the deepest live board, every matchday of Uganda's favourite league.
How much tax do I pay on betting in Uganda? As of July 2026: a 30% tax applies to operators' gross gaming revenue, and a 15% withholding applies to players' net winnings - the President's pending objection concerns an exemption for land-based casinos, not the tax on betting itself. Check current rates for the final shape.
Do I need the bonus code THEKING?No - our links apply it automatically, and the offer is identical with it or without it. It simply tells Bet365 that Sports-King referred you.
