Tanzania are guaranteed a place as co-hosts. They still play their qualifying group, but the result does not decide whether they take part.

Tanzania have played at the Africa Cup of Nations four times - 1980, 2019, 2023 and 2025. In 2025 they reached the knockout rounds for the first time, as one of the best third-placed teams, and lost 1-0 to hosts Morocco in the round of 16. 2027 is their first home tournament.
