Chelsea FC midfielder / right winger, Willian, in action for the Blues. The year is 2017. Boxing Day features a busy slate of matches in the English Premier League, including Chelsea playing host to Brighton.

This is an important match for Chelsea, as they are looking to maintain the distance between themselves and Liverpool in the EPL table. Chelsea currently sits in third place in the league, 16 points behind Man City and four points ahead of Liverpool. Catching Manchester City for the league title is likely a fairly tale at this point, so Chelsea now sets its attention to earning an automatic Champions League berth by finishing in third place or better.

Brighton, on the other hand, currently sits in 12th place in the table and is likely safe from the threat of relegation, barring some sort of a collapse through the second half of the season. Brighton currently sits 5 points ahead of the 18th place team, and they would surely love to gain a point on the road on Boxing Day.

Chelsea has earned 19 points through 9 home games so far this season, while Brighton has managed just 7 points on the road.

Chelsea has had some issues scoring in front of their home fans this season, as they have managed to find the net just 14 times. The good news for Chelsea fans, however, is that Brighton has been even worse on the road, scoring just 5 times in 9 away contests.
