The German Super Cup, or DFL-Supercup, pits the winner of the Bundesliga championship against the winner of the DFB-Pokal. This year will see the defending German Super Cup champions Borussia Dortmund square off against Bayern Munich.
As mentioned, Borussia Dortmund are the current champions and have won the title four times. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, is the all-time leader in this event with a total of five wins. Borussia Dortmund defeated Bayern Munich last year 4-2 to claim victory, while Bayern Munich won 2-1 the year before.
With Bundesliga action getting underway soon, both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will be using this contest as a chance to tweak their opening day line-ups and work out any kinks.
