Crucial Battle Looms as Barcelona Plays Host to Sevilla

Some mid-week action beckons in La Liga as Barcelona is set to play host to Sevilla.

This is an extremely crucial game for both teams, as Barcelona currently sits two points back of Real Madrid at the top of the table, while Sevilla is sitting in fourth place. Real Madrid has a game in hand on Barcelona, so a Barcelona victory is crucial if they wish to contend for the title this year. Sevilla, on the other hand, has a game in hand on Atletico Madrid and is currently three points back of Atletico. With Champions League spots on the line, Sevilla desperately wants a victory as well on Wednesday.

Barcelona has won its last two La Liga games in a row, notching victories over both Granada and Valencia. In both contests, Barcelona managed to notch four goals, which is proof positive that their offence is motoring along.

Sevilla, on the other hand, has been struggling mightily as of late, as their last victory in all competitions came on March 2nd. Since that time, Sevilla has not won, having dropped games to Atletico Madrid and Leicester City in Champions League action.
